Katherine Martins

Katherine is a social worker, educator, researcher, advocate, and lifelong learner passionate about creating more compassionate, inclusive, and equitable communities.

Her career has been shaped by a deep commitment to supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments. With experience in social work, nursing, end-of-life care, community engagement, program development, education, and advocacy, Katherine has worked alongside diverse communities in Canada and internationally. She is particularly passionate about mental health, grief and bereavement, end-of-life care, equity, and creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, respected, and supported.

As an educator and facilitator, Katherine enjoys turning complex ideas into meaningful learning experiences. She develops programs, facilitates training and webinars, engages stakeholders, and connects people with knowledge and resources that can create meaningful change.

Her academic and professional interests centre on equity, inclusive education, social justice, healthcare, and compassionate care. She is especially interested in understanding how systems can better serve people and communities that have historically been marginalized.

Beyond her professional work, Katherine is a nonprofit founder, writer, community builder, traveller, and passionate advocate for human connection. Her own experiences with adversity have shaped her belief in the power of empathy, resilience, and second chances.

At the heart of everything Katherine does is a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel valued, understood, and worthy of care-exactly as they are.
