Instructor-Led & Blended Courses
An instructor-led course is a learning experience where an instructor with experience in social services and/or supporting vulnerable populations facilitates the education process for a group of learners. In these courses, the instructor typically leads the lesson, provides guidance, and actively engages with the learners to help them absorb crucial knowledge. Instructor-led courses can be delivered in various formats, including:
In-person: Traditional classroom-style teaching involves in-person learning, where the instructor leads lessons, presents material, and engages directly with students through lectures and discussions. Learners participate by listening, taking notes, and asking questions in real time. This setup allows for immediate feedback, group work, and one-on-one support, fostering direct interaction and engagement in a face-to-face environment.
Virtual/Online: The instructor and students interact through IDEA’s virtual classroom where learners participate in a dynamic learning experience with features such as breakout sessions, live chat, and real-time collaboration tools. Learners can engage in small-group discussions, participate in polls, ask questions via chat or voice, and collaborate on shared whiteboards.
Blended: This learning approach offers a mix of live online, self-paced, and/or live-in-person formats. Learners participate in real-time online classes, complete self-paced modules at their convenience, or attend in-person sessions, depending on the course structure. To determine the exact format, learners must check the course description for specific details on how the course is delivered.
The key characteristics of instructor-led courses include:
- Real-time interaction: The instructor can answer questions, clarify concepts, and give immediate feedback.
- Structured learning: The course is often organized with a specific curriculum, lesson plans, and objectives.
- Engagement: Instructors may use a variety of teaching methods such as discussions, demonstrations, and activities to keep learners engaged.
