This session builds on the strategies covered in the “Introduction to Motivational Interviewing” workshop. While Motivational Interviewing can be “simple but not easy” to integrate into your regular counselling style, this highly interactive workshop offers an opportunity to develop and practice these skills more extensively. The session will emphasize case discussions and hands-on practice, so participants are encouraged to bring their own challenging case examples for us to work through. Workshop content includes revisiting reflective strategies, the art of strategic reflection, dealing with resistance in groups and individuals, applying Motivational Interviewing techniques when you only have 20 minutes, and engaging in case consultation and role play.

- Reinforce and deepen understanding of motivational interviewing techniques covered in the “Introduction to Motivational Interviewing” workshop.
- Enhance skills in using strategic reflection during counselling sessions.
- Learn how to address and manage resistance from both individuals and groups.
- Develop practical skills in applying Motivational Interviewing within limited timeframes (e.g., 20-minute sessions).
- Engage in case discussions and role-play to improve real-world application of techniques.
