Dana Kamin, MSW, RSW

Dana Kamin is an experienced Registered Social Worker (RSW) and clinical counsellor with over 25 years of experience in the social service and mental health sectors. Specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, and hoarding, Dana is the owner of ThriveWell Counselling, where she provides compassionate and person-centred support to individuals and families. With a broad background working in diverse settings such as drop-ins, food banks, shelters, and client homes, Dana has gained extensive experience in crisis intervention, prevention, de-escalation, case management, and counselling. Her work has particularly focused on homeless and low-income populations, LGBTQ+ youth, and individuals addressing hoarding.

Dana is highly skilled in various trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, including Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. She also utilizes trauma healing modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients heal and achieve personal growth.

In addition to her clinical work, Dana is an experienced training facilitator who creates dynamic, participatory learning environments. Her workshops are known for their engaging discussions, interactive group activities, and a focus on shared learning. Dana fosters a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental atmosphere where participants can explore real-world experiences, support one another, and gain practical skills. Her commitment to social justice and inclusivity is evident in every aspect of her work.

Currently, Dana is writing a chapter for the upcoming book Queering EMDR, scheduled for release in Fall 2025, further contributing to the field of trauma-informed care with a focus on inclusivity and diversity. With her extensive experience and passion for supporting others, Dana continues to inspire and empower those she works with to thrive and overcome life’s challenges.
