Martez Schembri-Diskey is a highly experienced Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), Craniosacral Therapist (CST-D), and Clinical Wellness Practitioner with over 31 years of experience in healthcare. She is a passionate educator, author, and retreat facilitator dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to achieve integrative health, self-care, and healing on all levels.
Martez is an educator and professor at Centennial College and Durham College, where she teaches courses in Neuroanatomy, Therapeutic Relationships, Massage Theory and Practice, Hydrotherapy, and serves as a Student Clinic Supervisor. She also contributes to the Durham College Massage Therapy Program, specializing in Therapeutic Relationships and Student Clinic supervision. In addition, Martez has developed and taught craniosacral courses, “Heal The Healer” workshops, and various retreats focused on trauma and self-care.
A dedicated retreat developer and facilitator, Martez leads local and international retreats that focus on self-care practices and trauma healing. In 2023, she developed and led a two-week international retreat in Malta, alongside a 3-day retreat at Dimensions Algonquin Retreat on Journaling. She also leads the Trauma Retreat Center and has facilitated numerous retreats worldwide.
As an author, Martez has published two books: Journal M.A.G.I.C.: A Five-Step Process to Create Your Magic and From Stress to Bliss: Journey from Post-Traumatic Stress to Post-Traumatic Growth. She is also co-writing a book on an integrative approach to trauma treatment and has contributed chapters to Modern Day Miracles by Louise L. Hay and You Can Make It Happen Now – Life After Lupus by Lynda Dyer.
Martez’s approach to healing is informed by her extensive studies in trauma, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Counseling, Spiritual Direction, Trauma-Informed Care, Trauma Tension Release Exercises (TRE), and other integrative biopsychosocial-spiritual modalities. Her work helps clients navigate chronic pain, stress, burnout, trauma, PTSD, and post-traumatic growth.
