Priyan Ramanihar, MA, Registered Psychotherapist

Priyan Ramanihar is a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor specializing in trauma and addictions, with extensive experience in community mental health, housing, and substance use treatment settings. Priyan is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy.

With a wealth of experience delivering workshops, psychoeducational groups, and staff training, Priyan has also taught college courses in social services and addictions and mental health programs. Priyan’s teaching style is highly interactive and discussion-based, utilizing experiential learning pedagogy to engage learners in meaningful dialogue and reflection.

As a therapist, Priyan believes that challenges and issues can be addressed within a container of safety, created through compassionate and empathetic therapeutic relationships. Priyan firmly believes that healing occurs through the presence of such a connection, and that therapeutic work happens through reconciliation, or through reparative, restorative, and corrective experiences.

Priyan integrates a holistic, trauma-informed, and nonjudgmental approach to therapy, responding to a wide range of issues, including addiction, trauma, grief, personality disorders, and relational challenges. This philosophy also defines Priyan’s approach to training and teaching—supporting learners in building an educational foundation that facilitates meaningful and practical change in their clients’ lives.
